Three Must-Haves in Your Dream Home

gloger slide 111We all have a dream home in mind, although the qualities and characteristics of that home will vary drastically depending on who you ask. For some, a dream home is a large plantation home with four wide decks overlooking a river, while for others it’s a rustic cabin high on a mountain. But nobody wants a dream house that’s falling apart, tainted with mold, or built with cheap materials. These three ideas can make a huge difference in the ultimate quality and appearance of your home.

Mud Room

A mud room is essentially a designated room to contain all of the mess that kids, pets, and laundry can make. Rather than squeezing everything into a room barely big enough to hold a washer and dryer, instead make plans to include a larger mud room  inside the back door that contains hooks for backpacks and towels, cubbies for sports equipment, shoe racks, and shelving for laundry products. This room will not only look nice itself when decorated but will also help to keep the rest of your home sparkling.

Strategic Outlets

Outlets are one of the small details that many homeowners assume they can “make due” with, regardless of the builder’s plans. But stop for a second to consider how much easier life would be if you had kitchen and bathroom outlets under cabinets and in drawers. No more wires crisscrossing everywhere and threatening to cause a major accident. With wires out of the way your entire space can look larger and cleaner. The same goes for outdoor outlets- the more the merrier! Don’t limit yourself to two by the front door.

Deep Kitchen Drawers

Keeping pots, pans, and casserole dishes organized in one large kitchen cabinet can be nearly impossible, especially if you use everything on a somewhat daily basis. Instead, opt for deep kitchen drawers so that everything can be visible and within reach at all times.
